We have only so much acreage, and since we are determined not to overburden our grass resources, we needed to come up with a plan for how best to serve our repeat customers. As currently structured, we calculate that our ranch can only support a limited number (maybe about 500) of regular customers.

Obviously, that's not a lot of people. Therefore, we have decided to offer a SteakBurger subscription program. The cost of the program would be $50 up front and then $35 per month (but read on and see how it’s actually free) and would guarantee you at least 5lbs per month. You are not limited to 5lbs a month; you can order as much as you like. But you are guaranteed 5 lbs a month. If you want more than that, and if we have it, you will get first priority over a non-subscriber. If you want to be guaranteed 10lbs a month then we can sign you up at $70/month.

What are the benefits of being a SteakScriber?

• First Priority – SteakScribers get first priority. With this program, we anticipate selling out our availability and new customers would have to go on a waiting list.
• Best Pricing – SteakScribers will get our best current pricing, regardless of the quantity you purchase. Currently, we charge customers who come to the ranch to pick up the meat, $7 per pound. There would be a charge for the shipping.
• Streamlined Ordering – No more need to go to our web page to make an order. Nor will you have to remember usernames, passwords, etc. Once you’re a SteakScriber we’ll contact you via email (or telephone if you prefer) every month or so to ask if you’re ready for another shipment.

All that for only $35 a month! What a deal, right? But wait, there’s one more critical thing. Your SteakScriber fee is credited towards any future purchase you make. So, in effect, if you plan to buy regularly from us, there is really NO CHARGE to be a SteakScriber.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I limited to 5lbs a month under this plan?
No, if you want to order more than that in a given month, or 10lbs a month or 20 that’s fine. If you know right now that you will want an average of 10lbs a month, then sign up for the $70 p/month plan.

Does it make sense for anyone NOT to be a SteakScriber?
No! Not if you plan to make regular SteakBurger purchases, and you want to take advantage of the lower pricing regardless of quantities ordered and you want to make sure you’re on the priority list, then it’s really smart to sign up for the subscription program.

How does the $35 credit work?
Here’s an example: let’s say you decide to be a SteakScriber starting December 1. You go on our website to the Order page and pay the sign up fee. Then you either email us with your order or just order on the website. You order 15 One Pounders and four 3-Packs of Patties with your initial order as a SteakScriber. Your bill would be the $50 up front SteakScriber fee plus $133 for the meat for a total bill of $183 before any shipping. On January1st, your credit card would be billed automatically for the $35 for the monthly SteakScriber Fee. On January 15th (or thereabouts) we would contact you to see if you need more anytime soon. Let’s say for illustration’s sake, that you don’t want any yet but want to wait until February. Then on Feb 1, your credit card is once again billed $35. But now you’ve built up $120 credit in your account (which is the $50 up front fee plus 2 months at $35). So on February 15, when you order 30lbs, the bill would be $210 plus shipping if any for the 30 One Pounders and less the $120 credit for the SteakScriber balance. If the shipping is $35, then your credit card would be charged an additional $145 for this transaction. I hope that's clear, but if you have questions, call us or email us please.

What if I want to wait a few months?
It is anticipated that many customers will want to purchase a two or three month supply at a time. That’s not a problem. See the example above.

What if I want to cancel; is there a refund?
One of the beautiful aspects of the SteakScriber program is that there is no long-term commitment. Circumstances change and we understand that. Simply email us and let us know to cancel the subscription and we will do so. The fee is nonrefundable however, but it is always good towards the cost of more SteakBurger. Credits are good for a 1 year period and then expire.

Is there any long-term commitment?
See above for more information. The short answer is, no.

How much do I pay for shipping?
We will bill you what it costs us to ship your package to you, as you know, we don’t mark up our costs, and we always look for ways to do it cheaper for you. We have had success shipping UPS and FedEx Ground to most locations in the US. I always tell people that even though the shipping can sometimes be a bit costly, on balance I feel it’s worth it for the service provided by these companies. We could not be in business if it weren’t for UPS and FedEx. But we’re always trying to figure ways to get it to you at the lowest cost possible.

Why can’t you support more than 500 customers?
Well, that is our estimate (and its based on an average purchase of 10lbs per month), it may be less than that or more but only slightly either way. We believe we would overtax our grass resources and do lasting damage to our pasture land that we have labored diligently to improve if we go much beyond that figure.

Is it really such a benefit not to have to go to the SteakBurger order page?
That depends. I know from my own experience shopping online that I’d like it to be easier and less of a hassle. As a SteakScriber, you’ll have no more need to go to our web page to make an order. Nor will you have to remember usernames, passwords, etc. Once you’re a SteakScriber we’ll contact you via email (or telephone if you prefer) every month or so to ask if you’re ready for another shipment. If you are ready, you respond with a “yes” and how much you want, then we process your order and ship it. Then, we’ll send you the tracking number and charge your credit card at that point for any additional charges due. It’s that simple.

We’ll have your credit card information on file and shipping information, so it will be quick and easy for you. If you’re not ready yet, just say so. We won’t send any meat until you say so.

So, there’s a good chance I won’t ever run out of SteakBurger again?
Exactly! You know that sick feeling in the pit of your stomach when you open the freezer and find that it no longer contains any SteakBurger? Well, you won’t have to worry about that any more!

Will prices ever increase?
Yes, that is possible. But you can be assured that you will always get the best deal we offer to anyone else.
